What's your 'laptop travel lifestyle' dream? I'm developing the ability to live in Europe for an entire year at a time, working a few hours a day on my laptop, kicking back semi-retired. I think Paris would be nice for 3 months, Tuscany for 3 months.... maybe share the time with someone special (still looking; thanks for nothing Lavalife :-)...
I've read of other travel buffs who have managed to cut most of the ties and make portable residual incomes they maintain on a very part-time basis. This blog is a journal of the realization of my dreams and goals and the opportunity for me to share in the journeys of others in similar pursuits of freedom.
My Luggage and Destinations Travel Deals Open Tonight!!!!
It has been my mission to not only provide a travel blog that focuses on creating the income streams required to travel, but also assist my visitors in the other part of the equation; keeping prices affordable.
I'm very excited to announce that the Destinations and Luggage Travel Deals went online tonight. I'll keep you posted as I put together other deals for you.
Squamish, British Columbia is a perfect destination for the laptop traveler, offering a quiet retreat in one of the most picturesque settings on earth, while providing many outdoor recreational opportunities. Nestled between mountains, Squamish is also on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Squamish has become known as the recreational capital of Canada, with a full range of mountain and ocean activities to choose from.
Located just 55km from the Whistler resort community, you can enjoy world class skiing, with daily shuttles to the slopes, without the world class ski resort prices. Whistler is host to the 2010 Winter olympics. The Sea to Sky Highway between Squamish and Whistler provides breathtaking views of the Tanatalus Range of mountains, glaciers, rivers threading their way through lush green forests and Black Tusk's volcanic chimney.
Every year, thousands of rock climbers come to Squamish for world class rock climbing on the Stawamus Chief and surrounding mountains. Squamish is host to the annual Test of Metal mountain bike race and the North Shore mountain biking trails that have gained world renown fan into the Squamish area.
Water lovers will enjoy kiteboarding and windsurfing off The Spit. Squamish also provides scuba diving and kayaking adventures. Whale watchers can often spot whales in parts of Howe Sound.
I try to spend at least half my year in Squamish. For me Squamish is paradise. It's a quiet place to do my writing, build websites and fulfill my passion for outdoor adventure.
A perfect place to stay when you're in Squamish is the August Jack Motor Inn. A 38 unit inn located on the main street in Squamish places you within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. The inn is adjacent to two parks and very quiet, with views overlooking Shannon Falls and The Chief. Wi-Fi high speed internet access is available in the rooms. Squamish rates are very competitive and affordable and August Jack's represent the best value I've found.
Coming this weekend is the annual Squamish Logger Sports festival. Competitors come from across north america to compete in the logger sporting event.
Ever visited Squamish? I welcome your feedback and questions.
