Taking your dog with you when you travel, whether you go by land, air or sea, can present real problems. I know - I do 100k miles a year, and most of them I get to take Beck with me. It's worth the extra hassle, no question. But what tips can I offer you?
I recently picked up the Booq Python XM System for my MacBook. Amazing! It's the sturdiest, most well thought out accessory I've ever used so far.

What's your 'laptop travel lifestyle' dream? I'm developing the ability to live in Europe for an entire year at a time, working a few hours a day on my laptop, kicking back semi-retired. I think Paris would be nice for 3 months, Tuscany for 3 months.... maybe share the time with someone special (still looking; thanks for nothing Lavalife :-)...
The single greatest improvement you can make to your laptop is adding memory. When I updated my MacBook from 1GB to 2GB the increase in speed was incredible. As they say, there is no such thing as a fast enough motorcycle or computer.
